Who Were the Kadambas?

The Kadamba dynasty was founded by Mayurasharma (Mayuravarma) around 345 CE. Unlike the rulers of other ancient Indian kingdoms who often claimed descent from mythological figures, Mayurasharma was a learned Brahmin who took up arms after facing humiliation from Pallava soldiers.
